Accessibility Statement

Our commitment

Calm Back was built by a neurodivergent woman, for brains that work like hers. Accessibility is not a checklist for us. It is the point.

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at AA level as a minimum, and to go further wherever we can. We follow the principle of reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act 2010.

What we have done

• Plain language: short sentences, no corporate jargon, British English.
• Readable typography, generous line spacing, responsive layouts and clear controls.
• Reduced motion support: decorative entrance and reveal animations respect the reduced-motion setting.
• Keyboard support includes skip links, visible focus styles and native links, buttons and disclosure controls.
• We check text contrast as part of design review. A full independent assessment is still needed.
• Alt text on images: every meaningful image has descriptive alternative text. Decorative elements (sparkles, watercolour textures) are marked as decorative so screen readers skip them.
• We use headings to organise pages and check for a clear main heading.
• Form labels: every form input has a visible label and is correctly associated for screen readers.
• Skip links: a "Skip to content" link is the first focusable element on each page so keyboard and screen reader users can jump past the navigation.
• Mobile responsive: works on phone, tablet, and desktop.

What we know is not perfect yet

We are honest about gaps:

• Embedded third-party content (such as a booking calendar) follows the accessibility of that platform, not ours. We are watching their improvements.
• We have not yet had a full external accessibility audit. We cannot yet claim full conformance.

How to report a barrier

If something on this site is hard or impossible for you to use, email hello@calmbackwithgem.co.uk with:

• the page or element you had trouble with
• what assistive technology you were using (if any)
• what you expected and what happened
• We will reply within five working days and aim to fix the issue within 30 days. If we cannot fix it, we will explain why and offer an alternative.

Alternative formats

If you need any of our content (the workbook, sales pages, terms) in a different format (large print, plain-text email, audio summary), email us. We will provide it free of charge.

Technical specifics

• Our site is a static Astro site. There is no page builder.
• Fonts are self-hosted, so no third-party font CDN is called.
• Core page content and navigation remain available without JavaScript. Some interactive features and third-party services require JavaScript.
• Responsive checks use browser viewport testing. This does not replace testing on physical iOS and Android devices or with assistive technology.

Compliance status

We aim for WCAG 2.2 AA conformance. This statement was reviewed on 21 October 2026 against the current design and implementation. We have not completed an independent accessibility audit and do not claim full conformance.
